Johnson has a rich tradition when it comes to athletics. Studetns have many opportunities to join a sports team. We offer more than twenty-five athletic activities during the school year.

Johnson High School has been selected to pilot an 8:30 a.m. start time in fall 2015, with the additional benefit of using Metro Transit to get to and from school.

Micheal Thompson, an experienced school leader, has been selected as new principal of Johnson Senior High School. He has spent more than 25 years with Saint Paul Public Schools, most recently serving as principal of Gordon Parks High School. Thompson first began working with Saint Paul Public Schools in 1986 as a teacher and spent 10 years at Johnson Senior teaching English.

Johnson High School will be piloting an 8:30 to 3:00 PM schedule next year and most JHS students will be using Metro Transit buses to get to and from school in 2015-16. JHS students will each have an all-you-can-ride Metro Transit Go To card valid seven days a week between 5:00 AM and 10:00 PM for the duration of the school year. There will be a later-school-start and Metro Transit information room at the Showcase from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Parents and students are invited to stop in with any questions they have about the later start/Metro Transit plans for JHS in 2015-16.
School meetings have been scheduled to discuss a later school start time for Johnson for the 2015-16 school year. Please join us 6 p.m. at Johnson High School on Jan. 28 or Feb. 26.
With the recent concerns about the Ebola virus, the Saint Paul Public School District is following the guidance of the experts at the Minnesota Department of Health.
