Social Studies

Social Studies

Our world is smaller than ever.  People, goods, and information travel at speeds only dreamed of in earlier generations.  In order to be successful in our new global marketplace, students must have an understanding of the people that inhabit our shared Earth, both past and present.  The social studies department at Johnson High School has worked hard to design classes that expand and enlighten student thinking.  From the international human rights focused course "Global Concerns and Issues" to the locally centered "Twin Cities Studies" we have offerings to satisfy a broad range of student interest.  AP courses are also offered at all grade levels to challenge our most gifted students.  Johnson High School has been serving the east side since 1916 and counts a governor, US Representative, and a US Supreme Court Chief Justice among our alumni. Check out our course list and come explore the world with us!
