Required Social Studies Courses

 

The Johnson High School Social Studies Department offers courses to introduce students to the world around them, both locally and globally. Students are required to take two semesters of World History, two semesters of Human Geography, two semesters of U.S. History, one semester of Economics, and one semester of U.S. Government before graduating.

ALL FRESHMEN Must Enroll in One of the Following Courses

• World History
• Accelerated World History (Honors)

ALL SOPHOMORES Must Enroll in One of the Following Courses

• Human Geography
• Human Geography AP (Honors)
• Critical Ethnic Studies

ALL JUNIORS Must Enroll in One of the Following Courses

• U.S. History Survey
• CIS American History

ALL SENIORS Must Enroll in Economics and one of the Following Government Courses

• Economics
• U.S. Government
• CIS: The Challenge of Democracy
