World Languages

A foreign language can open more doors in the future for careers, life skills exploration, cultural awareness, and travel.  We offer three important  languages here at Johnson: Hmong, Spanish, and Karen.

Each language course sequence prepares all learners to communicate effectively in the pluralistic society of the United States and look beyond our borders to participate fully in the global community. Cultural materials provide learners with authentic experiences.   Our classes are energetic, highly interactive, and hands on. 

Students will:

• Speak, listen, read, and write in the target language;

• Develop insight into their own languages and cultures;

• Gain direct access to information in the target language.

• Have the opportunity to earn up to 12 college credits through the Seals of Biliteracy program.
